Bridge View House Self Catering in Rothbury

Bridge View House is undoubtedly one of the oldest buildings in the Coquetdale town of Rothbury, with foundations dating back to medieval times and a date above our front door of 1780. Today it is home to Harley's - the family-run Tea Room & Gift Shop and to the spacious and comfortable holiday accommodation with two bedrooms sleeping up to four people.

Why we love Bridge View House

Bridge View House is located above the hugely popular Harley's Tea Room in the centre of the Village, right near the River Coquet. Just how good is the Tea Room? Its firmly placed at the very high enf of the Tripadvisor rankings for the whole of Northumberland! The accommodation is (as you would expect) to the same high standards and you won't get a friendlier welcome anywhere else!

Located in the heart of Rothbury, Bridge View House is an ideal base to tour the hills and moorland of the National Park as well as being in easy reach of Northumberland's spectacular coast with it's many castles, historic houses and beautiful gardens aplenty. There is excellent walking, golfing and fishing in and around Rothbury and - should you want to take the pace up a gear - the great city of Newcastle is not too far away with all the museums, galleries and shops you could ever need!

Bridge View House is offers cosy and comfortable four star quality accommodation with the added bonus of being above at tea shop! On the first floor there is a large Living Room, tastefully decorated with an LCD TV and all the modern conveniences you would expect. There are two stylish bedrooms the master being at the top of the house and the second a spacious twin. The master bedroom has a large bed, a luxurious feel with high quality bedding and solid wood furniture. The Family Bathroom is a joy to behold with a traditional stand alone roll top bath, hand basin, WC and a light and airy feel.

Also on the first floor the Kitchen is extremely well equipped, you'll find absolutely everything you need to enjoy a self catering holiday along with a lovely dining table and chairs to seat four people. Just yards from the front door of Bridge View House is the River Coquet, with miles of beautiful riverside walks and views up the Coquet Valley. Please note that due to the accomodation being above the Tea Room it is not suitable for those with limited mobility.

About the Location

Why we love
Rothbury

Rothbury is a wonderful, vibrant Village in the heart of the picturesque Coquet Valley. It's packed with amenities, great places to eat, shop, drink & even three art galleries!

Better than all that though it's the perfect gateway to the Northumberland National Park while still being a stone's throw from the coast & glorious beaches. The perfect holiday base really!

Known locally as the Capital of Coquetdale, the traditional Northumbrian Village of Rothbury is built on a hilllside in the sandstone Simonside Hills. It offers an excellent range of shops, with many art galleries, tea rooms, cafes and pubs. It makes a very convenient base for fishing and for walking into the Northumberland National Park and Simonside, as well as offering less strenuous riverside walks. Rothbury lies near the centre of rural Northumberland, 12 miles from Alnwick, 15 miles from Morpeth, 16 miles from unspoilt beaches and 29 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne. As such it has been a local centre since the 13th century and at various times had a castle, a market and magistrate's court. Nearby Cragside House and Gardens, home to Lord Armstrong is perhaps the most famous attraction in the area.

Rothbury serves as a hub for the outlying Villages and as such has a good choice of places to eat and drink. You might be surprised to hear that in such a small place not only are there a number of pubs and cafes, but there is also an Italian restaurant, an Indian restaurant, Chinese takeaway and chip shop! The numerous cafes are extremely popular with the walkers and cyclists.

Rothbury has an award-winning selection of local, independent shops in which you can buy practically anything from meat to shoes and wine. We have highlighted the best in independent retailers including crafts and gifts, food shops, supermarkets and clothing. There are also a number of art and crafts galleries that celebrate and sell original and local crafts.
