Rainbow Cottage is situated in Low Hauxley which was originally a small fishing village nestled in the dunes above the beautiful and very quiet sandy beach of Hauxley Haven. The cottage has been transformed into a light airy holiday home with a contemporary feel. For those seeking a restful seaside holiday the location of the cottage is perfect as the beach is approximately 80 metres away. Hauxley Haven lies at the northern end of Druridge Bay. These golden sands are ideal for walkers, dog owners and absolutely ideal for familes, as the beach is rarely busy and sometimes can even be deserted.

About the Location
Why we love Low Hauxley
It's such a beautiful, peaceful place to have a relaxing break by the coast. It's a very small Village with a handful of lovely Cottages where you can slow down the pace of life and breath in that fresh sea air.
It's also a great base from which to explore the Northumberland Coast (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
Coquet Island the RSPB Reserve lies just off the northern end of Hauxley Haven and is home to Eider Ducks, Puffins, the Roseate Tern and grey seals. These can be observed by a local boat service which operates from Amble Harbour and runs trips around the island. A trip well worth taking! Low Hauxley is an ideal base for exploring historic and beautiful Northumberland. It is close to a range of outdoor activities such as walking, bird watching river and sea fishing, boating, golfing, cycling and horse riding.
Nearby Amble is commonly known as 'the friendliest port' and gained the nickname in the 1930's when Amble Council sent the RMS Mauretania a message on it's last voyage to the the wreckers yard 'Still the finest ship on the seas' and they replied with greetings 'to the last and friendliest port in England'. The Town is now a popular place for holidays with it's pleasant harbour, marina, proximity to beautiful beaches and many facilities it's easy to see why.
Many of the things to do in and around Amble are based in the very thing that almost completely surrounds it - water. Watersports, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and fishing are all extremely popular. There are certainly excellent facilities available including the Marina, Harbour, Angling Centre and many clubs. It's a great area for walking as well, with the Northumberland Coast Path so close by in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
